We assess each piece of extended writing at the end of each English unit against the children’s writing targets.
During each extended writing lesson the children understand why particular targets have been picked when the Success Criteria is discussed. These are differentiated to meet the needs of the children.
The children tick against their Success Criteria targets at the end of their Extended Writing lesson to decide if they have included each target in their writing. The teacher also assesses against these targets. Then the writing targets are completed at the end of every learning journey (for the extended piece of writing).
Children are given ‘two positive points’ from their teacher at the end of each Extended Writing lesson and these positive points are celebrated at the beginning of their next lesson using a visualiser.
