Year 5/6 Football Match Report

Stowlawn Primary vs St Mary’s
Final Score: 3–3

St Mary’s showed tremendous character and resilience on Tuesday afternoon as they battled back from a difficult first half to earn a thrilling 3–3 draw against Stowlawn Primary.
The match began with Stowlawn on the front foot, creating early chances and putting the St Mary’s defence under pressure. Fortunately, goalkeeper Logan was in excellent form. He worked tirelessly throughout the first half. After half time, St Mary’s came out with renewed energy managing to finish the game at 3-3.
A brilliant team performance full of determination, teamwork, and heart — well done, St Mary’s!
Thank you to Mr Russell and Miss McTaggart for supporting the team at the first match of the season.

Year 5/6 Sportshall Athletics Competition

The Sportshall Athletics area heat at Our Lady and St Chad’s Catholic Academy was a fantastic showcase of talent, teamwork and determination from all the athletes involved.

After an incredible performance by St Mary’s Team A, they secured first place in the area heat. Their superb victory means they have qualified for the Wolverhampton Sportshall Athletics Final in December, where they will compete against the top teams in the city.

This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work and commitment shown by all team members. It was amazing to see how all the members of both St Mary’s teams supported each other in this event and many of our second team will gain the opportunity to attend the final as additional team members.

Team B final position to be confirmed.

Well Done, team St Mary’s. All of our athletes should be immensely proud of their efforts.

Dodgeball Competition

On Tuesday evening, ten of our Year 5 and 6 children participated in a dodgeball competition at Our Lady and St Chad’s. Thank you to the staff and young leaders at OLSC for organising this event. Our team had a brilliant time playing in a league against Christ Church, St Mary’s, Bilston and Whitgreave. Throughout all our games our players showed brilliant teamwork, communicating well and adapting tactically in each game. A huge well done to the team and a big thank you to Miss Lindsay and Miss Carrelli for attending this event with the team.

Netball Festival at OLSC

A brilliant evening of Netball at Our Lady and St. Chad’s last night. It was amazing to see eleven teams from across Wolverhampton join together and develop a love for the sport. We spent the evening developing our knowledge of the rules, tactics and scoring goals. Well done to our two teams, some who have only played at school before and some who are seasoned pros now. There will be further opportunities for our teams to attend this style of festival focusing on game play before the Wolverhampton tournament in Spring 2026. Thank you to the staff at OLSC who organised this event.
