Mr Aplin spent 22 years as a musician in HM Forces, travelling all over the world representing the UK. On operations, he served with Army Medical Services in the Gulf War (1990-1991) and Iraq (2004).
He still performs as a musician as often as he can, playing various bands and singing in choirs. He really enjoys musical theatre, his favourite show being Les Miserables, for which he has been fortunate enough to play in the orchestra for several productions.
In the classroom, Mr Aplin believes that lessons should be fun, and sometimes finds ways of learning which are carried out a little less seriously (but don’t tell Mr Russell!).
Mr Aplin is really pleased to work with Mrs Souter for our orchestra and choir every week and is very proud of what these gifted and dedicated children have achieved over the last few years. There are not many primary schools in Wolverhampton with an orchestra, and of course, ours is the best!
I am a past pupil of St.Mary’s. As well as being taught academic lessons, I was taught lessons to carry me through life e.g. sewing and knitting of which my mother taught me at home too. I am very grateful as these are a few of my hobbies today.
My role as Business Manager at St Mary’s includes finance, HR, and Health & Safety amongst other things, which makes my job varied and interesting. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, baking with my two granddaughters, going to the theatre, reading, and visiting new places.
I enjoy being a teacher, it is incredibly rewarding when I know I have helped children overcome challenges and helped them realise their full potential. I love teaching lessons in which children can read or get involved with creating stories and find themselves immersed in a fictional world.
I am the Caretaker of St Marys School. I make sure the school is open on time and the heating is on in the winter, so it is nice and warm for you when you arrive. I take care of you on a dinner time and help you if you need help. I enjoy being with my grandchildren on a weekend.
Hello my name is Maxine Brown. I’m looking forward to meeting you all at lunchtime on the playground. In my leisure time I enjoy cooking, reading, gardening, going on nature treks and spending time with my family.
My name is Mrs Carty, I work through the school as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. In class we have fun learning about all aspects of the curriculum. In my spare time I like to bake cakes. I also like to cycle.
My name is Mrs Cooke and I enjoy the simple things in life! I love cooking, reading, shopping, films and music. I especially enjoy visiting new and interesting places with my family and spending time with my friends. If you come into my class, you can expect to do lots of exciting, practical activities to make learning fun, but at the same time be expected to work hard so you can achieve your full potential.
I’m Miss Evans, I like to do lots of charity work with a fantastic charity called Climing Out. In 2015 I got voted Fundraiser of the year at the Midlands Children of Courage Awards! I am a qualified Dental Nurse and also work at New Cross Hospital.
My name is Miss Hall and I am a teacher at St Mary’s. I hope that the children in my class find my lessons interesting and fun. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family especially my new born niece. I also like any activities that involve arts and crafts.
I am a Mum, I have three sons. Two now live in London and the other is still at home. I have worked in various professions over the years, however working with children has always been the job I have enjoyed the most. This I am sure is due to the different personalities of all the different children. When I was at school I liked Maths and English, I still do. I did not like needlework and I still cannot sew.
My name is Miss Harvey. I am a teaching assistant and thoroughly enjoy working in partnership with the teacher to create a stimulating environment for the children to reach their full potential. Each week I take every child out of class and work with them on any work that they are struggling with. I feel this is a great opportunity for the children to be able to gain confidence in areas that they find difficult.
When I am at home, I like to relax and spend time with my family. Also I enjoy singing and have a real love for music. When I was younger I did attempt to play the violin and I did really enjoy it. It is something I would consider to do again now in my adult life. During the holidays I love to travel and see different parts of the world as often as I can.
I love to work with children, especially early years and infants. I love going on holiday and spending lots of time going for long walks, meeting different people along the way. I go for day trips out and look after my two grandchildren, taking them on the trips with me.
Hello, I am Miss Kaur! I love school because each day is an adventurous experience where we all learn lots of exciting new things. I try to make learning as fun as possible by thinking outside the box and taking children’s interests into consideration.
When I am not at school I spend time with my family and take my dog out for walks. I enjoy being creative and artistic (one of my artistic clay models was displayed in Walsall Art Gallery).
I am a past pupil of St Marys. I am a lunchtime supervisor which means I look after the children. In a morning and evening I also clean the school. I enjoy going out with friends and going to London to see plays and musicals. My other favourite pastime is looking after my grandchildren, which I love.
I have supported infants with their language and numeracy development in nursery, reception, year one and year two. My favorite subjects are Literacy and RE. It is such a privilege to pray together with the children! In my spare time I do outdoors activities and visit holy places and shrines. I like being creative and reading good literature.
My name is Miss McTaggart and I really enjoy teaching! I love watching the children progress and grow throughout the year, whilst providing them with a challenging and fun learning environment. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, but most of all I love going out for lots of lovely food and exploring new places.
As well as being a Head of School, I am also a mummy to a very lively two-year-old! My other claim to fame is that I am one of triplets – I have a brother and sister the same age as me. When I’m not busy with school work or singing nursery rhymes to my little boy, I love to go for walks with my family, visit new places, watch rugby and go out for tasty meals.
Being a teacher is a dream come true. Getting the opportunity to work closely with children to see them achieve and succeed is extremely rewarding. When I’m not at school, I love spending time with my family and friends and cheering my children on during their competitive cheer competitions.
Hello my name is Mrs Mulrooney. As I love teaching, I try to make my classroom a fun and enjoyable place to learn. In class you will find out lots of new and exciting things as well as being challenged to the best of your ability.
When I am not in school, I love to spend time with my family. I love taking my little boy to the park and on little walking adventures. I also like baking and doing art and crafty activities.
I am married to Mr Nicholas and we have a dog, who we like to take for walks.
I also enjoy gardening, growing fruit, flowers and vegetables. The preserve pan is kept busy making jam with the fruit which we have grown. Another of my interests is knitting and other crafts, but sadly there doesn’t seem to be enough time for everything.
I have been a T.A at St. Mary’s for many years and seen generations of families coming through the school.
I aim to make learning an enjoyable experience as I feel this is when children learn best.
My name is Mrs Parkes. I have been a teacher for 16 years, teaching in Salford and Bolton and have joined St Mary’s this year. Most of my spare time is taken up with my daughters gymnastic classes and competitions. I look forward to meeting all the children and parents of St Mary’s and watching the children learn and flourish.

I am Mr Russell. I think our school is fantastic, and the staff, children and Academy Committee all work really hard to make our St Mary’s great.
Away from school I like doing things outdoors with my family, following the footy – LFC, DIY on my house, and relaxing in the Belgium Bar where I live; if Mrs Russell allows!
My name is Miss Rutter. I enjoy supporting children in the classroom and making the classroom a fun place to be. In the class you will find bright and colourful displays to show the children’s hard work. I enjoy art lessons with the children.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also take Zumba classes and enjoy baking cakes.
My name is Miss Smith and I am a former pupil of St. Mary’s returning in 2011 as an apprentice, completing my training here in the school. I am now a fully trained teaching assistant and have worked in nursery, reception and Year 3. In class we have a jolly good time, learning and growing together, working really hard to improve in all aspects of school life. In my spare time I like to read, visit new places and spend time with my family and friends.
When I’m not at school, I like to get out and about walking and exploring new places. I look forward to getting away most school holidays. I am a ‘touch-line’ and ‘pool side’ Mummy most weekends supporting my son. I love going to the theatre, cooking and reading.
In class my favourite subject to teach is Numeracy.
My name is Miss Tidmarsh. I am a teacher at St Mary’s. When I was in primary school I always said that I wanted to be a teacher so I feel very happy that I am able to do a job that I enjoy. In my spare time I like reading, going to the gym, travelling and taking care of my dog.
As well as being Year 6 teacher and Literacy co-ordinator, I am also a Mum to a very lively three-year-old boy so most of the time, I am very busy! However, in my free time, I do a lot of reading, take my dogs for long walks and visit new places with my little boy.
In school, my favourite subjects are Literacy, Maths, RE, History and Music however I am hopeless at Art! I am extremely jealous of all the artistic talent of children in my class! As the eldest in the school, the children in my class are expected to work very hard and to take on jobs around the school, setting a good example to others. However, as a reward for excellent behaviour and hard work, if you are in my class, you will often be rewarded with some free time outside.
My name is Miss Wilkinson and I love spending time in my garden growing flowers and plants. My latest achievement is growing a sunflower as tall as me! I love animals and you will often hear me talk about my spoilt cat Sid. If you are in my class expect lots of outdoor learning and opportunities to be as creative as possible. I also love science and enjoy having lots of different creatures and animals in my classroom to learn how they live and grow.
I really enjoy teaching at St. Mary’s. In my classroom I expect you to work hard however, if you work hard we will do fun things. As a reward for good learning behaviour and hard work you will collect monster points. It gets extremely competitive! At the end of the week we also have a green team party where making the right choices during the week is celebrated.
As some of you may already know PE is one of my favourite subjects so no matter the weather we will always do PE.
I’m Mrs Woods and work at St Mary’s as a Teaching Assistant. I love watching how children grow and become independent learners throughout the year – I especially love how much fun they have even when tricky things challenge them!
When I’m not in school I spend lots of time with my family and friends; eating out and day trips. I also love to write. I write anything from stories to poems.
